Spring is Finally Here

It's been a long winter and Spring took it's sweet time arriving as well. But now Zoey can with some help from River get going on her Spring flower tallying. But even Elves have to be careful, they are not only ones looking at flowers.

Zoey: I appreciate you helping me catch up on my flower keeping, River. Feels so good to get to work.

River: No problem. Maybe if I get overwhelmed with my animal counts, you can help me. So is the violets all you count?

In the blink of an eye, River got her answer.

Zoey: Nope! We have to now do these two trees that grew together.
River: Whoa! How did you do that?
Zoey: You have special powers for your job. So do I. I have 5 acres to cover, you don't think I walk to every section do you?

River: Well yeah, but you could warn a person before you pop them in and out of spots.

In another blink.

Zoey: You better get up her River. A human is coming.

River began to climb up the tree.

Zoey: You want some help?

River: I am sure I can manage thank you. Wait... where did you go?

Not seeing Zoey, River climbed on.

Zoey: She's getting closer. I think I better help you.

Before River could say a single word.
Blink!

River: Whoa! Could you have picked a better spot?

Zoey: Sorry, as she popped River closer to her. Now be quiet she is very close.

Both elves sat together and held their breath as the girl got closer.

As Zoey & River watched ever mindful of keeping their presence secret from the human. Honor came to check on her favorite tree.

Honor: Wow! The trees didn't do well this winter. I see Momma Marie & Poppa Ken took down the broken parts and made this nice seating area for me and Daddy.

Honor: I see it still has wonderful blossoms though.

Honor: Is it okay if I climb the tree?
Me: As long as I am here to watch, yes. But never climb it without me, or your dad near.

Honor: I see you put up your elf detector? Is it working?
Me: Well it was a bit a go, but I guess they are being sure we don't see them.

Honor: Poor tree. I hope you don't have to cut down any more parts.
Me: Well we see one part that looks bad. But we will wait until Fall.

Honor; I like climbing trees. I think it's... What was that?

Honor sat quietly.

River held her breath.

Honor climbed down and begand walking back to the house.

Honor: Well looks like rain, I guess I better get inside & get on my homework. You'll let me know if you see any elves won't you Momma Marie?
Me: Of course dear. ( Fingers crossed behind my back.)

Zoey: Is she gone?
Me: Yes, but next time be more careful. I like Honor having an imagination, but I don't need her knowing how many of you we have around here. Guess we need to make a new schedule.

River: Guess I better get on that too. I hear the humans have dogs too.
Zoey: Yes, but it's the feral cats we have to really watch out for.
